Why I am here

I am a returning college student at the age of 27. I am attending Suffolk County Community College to get my associates degree in Culinary Arts: Baking & Pastry Arts. I will be graduating in May of 2012 after I complete an internship at the schools Bakers Workshop. I started this journey in Aug of 2010 after losing a job of 6 years in NYC with a printing company that ended up going out of business. I have been on the deans list each semester and I take my education very seriously but still know how to have a good time while doing it because I'm doing what I love. After obtaining my associates degree I would like to continue onto the Bachelor of Business Degree program through SUNY Delhi's partnership with SCCC on-line and on Long Island.

In addition to getting my education in Pastry Arts, I have experience in baking for special diets. I specialize in Vegan diets but I also have experience with Gluten Free, Sugar Free and Soy Free diets as well.

In January of 2012 I will be in search of a full time position within a bakery or the like. I would look sooner but my current semester's schedule is 19 credits including 2 labs which makes it nearly impossible to hold a full time job in the field.
